October 27, 2020 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Free

Join renowned spoken word and recording artist and activist Ursula Rucker in an engaging conversation led by Marc Bamuthi Joseph (Bamuthi). Ursula will perform a few of her incredible and powerful poems and discuss her artistic work. She is a Philadelphia born poet, mother, activist, and recording artist. She has been performing, recording, and releasing works for over 20 years. She has five solo recordings and collaborated on over 100 songs – including with The Roots.

Ursula is a guest artist for Michele Byrd-McPhee’s fall UW-Madison Division of the Arts Interdisciplinary Arts Residency Program. Michele is a dancer, choreographer, and is the founder and Executive Director of Ladies of Hip-Hop and is teaching the course “Hip-Hop Culture, Women & the World.”

This event is brought to you by the UW-Madison Division of the Arts Interdisciplinary Arts Residency Program. We also would like to welcome Bamuthi, who was UW-Madison’s interdisciplinary artist in the fall of 2007, back on campus (virtually).
