Applied Comics Kitchen (ACK), fosters open, practiced-based dialogue for educators, researchers, and community members to share the use of comics making in teaching practices, advocacy, and research methodologies. ACK has been successfully offering transdiciplinary, hands-on workshops at UW–Madison since the Fall 2016 semester. ACK provides a home for graduate students, faculty, undergraduate students, and community members from all disciplines to develop and expand the use of comics.
ACK will continue to offer 6-8 workshops per year, and the core group will meet to plan and draw weekly. It’s presence on campus will expand, ACK will publish collaborative comics anthologies that emerge from the group’s work, and in the future might host larger scale conferences or host comics artists for short residencies.
