UW–Madison’s Division of the Arts Issues Call for Nominations and Applications for Creative Arts Awards from Faculty, Staff and Students

The University of Wisconsin–Madison Division of the Arts has issued a call for nominations and applications for the annual Creative Arts Awards. There is $117,000 available to award this year in support of all campus arts community members in the areas of: Faculty Arts Research, Staff and Faculty Arts Outreach and Student Arts Research and Achievement. The call will remain open until Monday, November 15, 2021, at 3 p.m. CDT.  The Creative Arts Awards is an excellent opportunity to recognize and honor the unique contributions made in all areas of the creative arts enriching the UW–Madison campus and community.

Seven awards are open to a variety of arts practioners, researchers, students, staff and faculty from any area including arts academic departments and programs. This includes Art, Art History, Arts Administration, Communication Arts, Creative Writing, Dance, Design Studies, Music, Interdisciplinary Theatre Studies and Theatre and Drama. Faculty are encouraged to apply for the Creative Arts Award ($30,000) and the Emily Mead Baldwin Award ($20,000). Faculty and staff are invited to apply for the Joyce J. and Gerald A. Bartell Award in the Arts ($7,000) and the Edna Wiechers Arts in Wisconsin Award ($3,500). Graduate students in the arts may apply to the David and Edith Sinaiko Frank Graduate Fellowship for a Woman in the Arts ($2,000) and the Graduate Student Creative Arts Award ($2,000), while both graduate and undergraduate students may apply to the Lyman S.V. Judson and Ellen Mackechnie Judson Student Award in the Creative Arts ($2,000).

All applicants and nominees will receive notification of the outcome by Monday, December 20, 2021, and will be invited to the Creative Arts Awards ceremony to be recognized publicly on Tuesday, May 10, 2022.

In recognition of the unique contributions of each person and the profound ways their identity, culture, background, experience, status, abilities and opinions enrich the university community, the Division of the Arts welcomes and encourages applications from a diverse group of eligible campus arts community members as much as possible.
